Loan description:
The Progress Milimo group of Zambia has a membership of 13 women aged between 25 and 53. Some of the women in this group are married whilst others are single and some divorced. These women have children who are in school and also look after school going orphans. The women of Progress Milimo run small scale businesses with the aim of reducing poverty levels in their families. They sell goods like assorted groceries, vegetables and salaula (second hand clothes). Most of the customers come from the surrounding areas.
Margret Mbewe 51 years is a member of this group. She is married and has six children who are all in school. Margret runs a small grocery stall selling soap, cooking oil, rice and candles in the local market of her area. She will use this loan to order more stock of the items she sells like soap, cooking oil, sugar and assorted soft drinks etc. With the increased profit she hopes to be able to provide daily needs for her family from her larger sells. She is grateful to be able to contribute positively to the financial well being of her family.
