Shehnaz Pervaiz lives in Badami Bagh area of Lahore. She is 37 years old, married and has two sons and two daughters. Both her daughters and younger son are going to school. Her elder son is a sales man at a shoe shop and earns 4,000 Rupees ($38) monthly. Her husband is a cobbler and earns 16,000 Rupees (almost $153) in a month. Shehnaz decided to start her own business about five years ago to supplement the household income. She sells un-stitched fabrics used to make women’s clothing, as well as some bed-sheets and coveralls. She buys all the clothes from a supplier from Faisalabad city. She earns a profit of around 10,000 Rupees ($95) per month. Shehnaz wants to expand her business and has applied for a loan. The loan will be used to buy more clothes of the latest designs from wholesalers. The loan is payable over a period of 17 months.
