Hilter Canico Benitez is 48 and married with seven children, only the youngest three are still in school though. The eldest has already graduated from university while the next two are close to graduating as well. Don Hilter is a taxi driver and has worked as part of a firm called Rio Guayabal for the past ten years. He owns a pick-up truck which can ferry passengers and large loads. Before this he worked as a coach driver for the country's largest company 'Cooperativa de Transportes de Loja'. This was hard work because he travelled throughout the country and was often away from his family for days at a time and driving on poorly maintained roads with a higher risk of accidents. He therefore decided to return to Catamayo and bought a vehicle with a large loan. He helped to pay off the loan with help from his wife who runs a market stall. He requested a new loan in order to buy new tyres and spare parts for his vehicle.
