Nazeer Ahmad runs a food stall. He sells French fries and samosas (a samosa is a traditional street food in Pakistan made from flour pastry, and filled with a spicy potato filling). Nazeer-sahib is 53 years old, married and lives in Badami Bagh, a locality in the city of Lahore. He has two sons and a daughter, all of whom are in school. He has been running this business for almost five years. He manages to earn 17,000 rupees’ profit (around £133) per month. He runs his stall in the Data Nagar area. Nazeer now wants to start another stall for his son to operate. He figures that this way his family’s income can increase considerably. He needs to buy some items in bulk from the wholesalers. He applied for this loan to buy a push cart and some food items including flour, spices, potatoes and cooking oil. He also wants to buy a gas cylinder and a large wok for frying.
