Juhanna

Juhanna Ragasajo is 28 years old and married with a three year old daughter. Her husband Edward is also 28. They live in the neighbourhood of Jagbuaya which is located in the town of Tuburan in Cebu province. The couple manage a small restaurant together. Juhanna prepares a wide variety of cooked food dishes every day. Since they have a spacious area where they can serve, they have set out a large number of tables and chairs. They also have glass cases and stainless steel containers in which the food is displayed for the convenience of customers who can select what they wish to order. Juhanna thinks many customers are attracted by the cleanliness of the restaurant. Furthermore, Juhanna has a daily menu written and displayed on a board. They have four employees who help with cooking, serving customers and cleaning tables and dishes. Juhanna has been a member of the microfinance organisation, First Consolidated Cooperative, for five years and during this time has received and repaid ten loans which she has used to build up her business. She sought another loan in order to purchase ingredients and food in bulk, as well as some equipment for cooking. Juhanna has plans to open a further two restaurants in the future. The loan is repayable over six months.
