The Wanangwa group of Zambia has a membership of 13 women aged between 29 and 46. These women have a total 67 children who are in school and also look after 25 school going orphans. The women of Wanangwa run small scale businesses with the aim of reducing poverty levels in their families. They sell goods like assorted groceries, vegetables, kapenta (small fish) and salaula (second hand clothes). Most of the customers come from the surrounding areas.
Racheal Chipeta 45 year is a member of this group. She is married and has three children who are in school, she also looks after 2 orphans who are in school too. Racheal runs a maket stall selling assorted vegetables, beans and kapenta (small fish). She is requesting for this loan to order more stock of the items she sells. She hopes to be able to pay medical bills for her family from the profits of her larger sells. She is grateful to be able to contribute positively to the financial well-being of her family.
