Hugo Efarín Ramon is 26 years old and single, He is a farmer and grows cucumbers and peppers. He applied for a six month loan from the microfinance organisation Fundacion FACES in order to buy all the necessary inputs (including quality seeds and fertiliser) to sow the next crop. Since farming is seasonal, during the 'dead season' Hugo works as a labourer in and around the city of Catamayo. Hugo is saving to buy his own house for the day when he has his own children. He has hopes to increase the area he has under cultivation eventually. He also has responsibility for looking after his parents.
