Loan description:
Mira Vranic is a widow and lives alone in the city of Mostar in the region of Herzegovina. She lost her husband when she was quite young and brought up her two daughters by herself, both are now married and live separately. She receives a widow's pension but struggled with this as her only source of income so she started her own business when they children were still at school. She started by selling fish at the local market, but has now changed to selling fruit and vegetables. Once she finishes at the market she goes home and makes souvenirs and jewellery to sell. Mostar receives a lot of tourists because of the famous bridge over the River Neretva. She also sews clothes, blankets and other items. She has sought a loan in order to use as working capital - buying stock as and when necessary for her market stall and also raw materials for her souvenirs. The loan is repayable over 18 months.
