Loan description:
Gloria Ewayan is 33 years old and married with two young children, aged six and 12 months respectively. Both Gloria and her husband Alberto have earned a living from fishing for the past eight years or so. They live in a rural area of Dumagoc, near the town of Pagadian which is in Zamboanga Del Sur province. Alberto goes out to sea to catch the fish while Gloria is responsible for selling the catch. Anything left over they usually eat themselves. Gloria is an active member of the microfinance organisation, Maranding Women Investors Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and sought a loan in order to purchase a new motor for her husband's boat. Their hope is that eventually they might be able to buy a second boat which they could rent out to other fishermen. The loan is repayable over six months.
