Loan description:
Doña Luz Herrera is 81 years old and a farmer. She lives by herself, her husband passed away, and she raises pigs and chickens from her small farm in La Algarrobera which is in the district of Gonzanamá in southern Ecuador. She has been a borrower of the microfinance institution Fundacion FACES for about eight years now and has already received and repaid a number of loans, always being very prompt in meeting repayments. Sometimes she uses the loans to pay agricultural labourers to work on her land as she now finds it difficult to do the physical work herself. Her latest loan application is to buy animal feed for her pigs. She sells the animals eventually when they are adults in the town of Catamayo.
