Yen Soeurng is 43 years old and married to Tanh Soeurng. They currently have five children aged from 24 to 2; only the fourth is currently attending the local school. They live in Watkandal village, Raing Kesey commune in Sangke district, Battambang province. They farm five hectares of rice paddy located near to their home. The yield gives them around two tons per hectare, two tons of which they stock for their own consumption, while the rest they sell locally. Aside from farming rice, they have also been growing vegetables from their home for the past ten years. They currently grow cucumbers, cauliflower and wax gourd which they sell themselves at the local market. To deliver their vegetables faster, they have decided to ask for a loan in order to buy a motorbike. They aim to repay it over eight months.
