Loan description:
Poeurt Chan has been earning a living from farming for the past 40 years. Presently she has grown cassava on around five hectares of land. She harvests after around ten months, generally collecting around 20 tons per hectare. A merchant buys her cassava roots directly from her farm after the cassava has already been chopped. She also hires around ten people to assist her in both planting and chopping the cassava and each of them earns around $5 a day from this labouring activity. Poeurt requested a loan in order to pay for ploughing the land (one hectare costs around $40), crop protection products, fertiliser and pay for labouring costs.
