Loan description:
Phengly So is 28 years old and single. He lives with his mother in Anlong Svay village, which is in Banon district, Battambang province. Phengly started rice farming quite recently and presently rents five hectares of rice paddy. The yield gives him around two tonnes per hectare and he keeps just one tonne of this for his family's consumption. The remainder he sells to a local trader. As his working capital is currently limited, Phengly and his mother decided to ask for a loan in order to help cover his renting and ploughing costs as well as buy commercial fertiliser and good quality rice seeds. Phengly expects to pay this loan back over nine months (the photograph is of his mother, Thoeurn En, aged 60).
