Arnilo Velasquez is a 29 year old farmer living in the village of Nug which is in the town of Alcoy in Cebu province. He is single and lives with his parents whom he supports. Arnilo has been planting several kinds of crops for about five years now. This has been his source of income to provide the needs of his family. He mainly grows cabbages and onions. His harvested crops are bought by traders who go to their area and buy the products in bulk. Arnilo has requested his first loan from the MFI, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, in order to buy fertilisers and pesticides for his crops. His loan proceeds secured through his saving account in the MFI and can only be withdrawn whenever he needs to invest something in his business. He plans to repay the loan over a period of twelve months.
