Loan description:
Gladys Saritama is 55 years old and has six children with her common law husband. However, after 15 years of being together he left the household. With the need to earn an income she began working many years ago as a labourer in the local sugar factory in the town of Catamayo. She did manage to send her children to school but she could only afford for most of them to finish primary school. The majority of her children are now married with their own families, only her youngest who is 21 years old is still living with her and attends university. She decided some years ago to start her own business, and began selling cosmetics, clothes, and perfumes by catalogue. With help from her mother she obtained a market stall about seven years ago to sell food in the town's public market. She has been using loans from FACES for much of this time to help run her business. Gladys' ambition is to have her own house, although she has a small plot of land, she has never managed to actually build her own house yet. She has sought a small loan from FACES in order to buy more stock for her market stall.
