Rebecca Edisan is 35 years old and single. She helps to provide for her parents and other close relatives. She lives in the neighbourhood of Sto. Rosario which is located in the town of Bogo, Cebu province. Rebecca is currently managing a small barbecue stall business in front of her house where she sells delicious grilled products like pork and sausages. For the past 5 years she has been preparig the ingredients of her products including the marinade for her barbecue, sweet sauce, spicy vinegar sauce and putting the pork meats and sausages on sticks. She then assembles the equipment she uses in order to grill the products and sell to her neighbours. Most of the time her customers buy barbecue for their daily snacks while others prefer it to be eaten with steamed rice. Rebecca always makes sure that she has plenty of stocks for her sauces because many people want to eat barbecue with such sauces. The microfinance organization First Consolidated Cooperative has given her a microloan that she can use to purchase additional stocks of meat, sausage and ingredients of sauce for her barbecue stall. This could be the start of her business to become more successful in the area. She will save a big part of her income to increase her future capitalisation and a part is for her family’s daily living expenses. Rebecca has been a member of the organisation for almost a year and she plans to repay the loan over a period of three months.
