Hoeurng Houv is 44 years old and married with three children aged between 28 and 22. All of them are working. They live in Ansong Sok village, Prek Norin commune, Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. Hoeurng is a farmer and cultivates two hectares of rice paddy located near his house. This year he estimates the yield will be around three tonnes per hectare. He will keep 15 sacks of his harvest for his family's own consumption (one sack equals 100 kilograms). Aside from farming rice he also grows some green beans on a one acre of land - he aims to harvest one tonne. He owns his own hand tractor. He sought a loan in order to buy insecticide and diesel for a water pump. He plans to repay the loan over nine months.
