Loan description:
Gloria is 49 years old and married with two children. Her husband works for the city as a taxi driver and her eldest child, who is 30, is married and her youngest child, who is 12, is studying at high school. Her daughter lives away from home with her husband, who owns a computer shop, and her son lives with her and her husband. Gloria works in Mayorista market in Loja town where she rents a space to make and sell fresh fruit juices and smoothies. The rent for the space is very low and Gloria has been there since 1985. Before she started this business she stayed at home and had no way to help her family or herself financially. Gloria makes a variety of juices and smoothies and the most popular is carrot juice. Gloria has been a member of FACES for a long time and this is not her first loan. The loans have been very helpful in aiding the growth of Gloria's business and she is now able to make a variety of juices as well as have good quality equipment. These changes to her business have led to an increase in customers over the years. She has used this most recent loan to buy more fruit and veg, which she purchases from the market where she works, and to buy new juice mixers. Gloria really enjoys working in the market with all the other women and wants to continue working there but she hopes to expand her business one day and possibly get people to help her. She would also like to expand her business to sell sandwiches. The profits she makes from her juice stall help Gloria to have financial independence as well as provide for her home and her family's healthcare. Gloria will repay her loan over six months.
