Loan description:

Gene Marie is a 40 year old wife and mother of 2 children aged 10 and 5; both study in a local school. Her family lives in the neighbourhood of Poblacion which is in Oslob town, Cebu province. She is happily married to her 37 year old husband named Lamberto who works as a government employee. Through the combined capital from their previous earnings, Gene and Lamberto decided to establish an internet cafe business in their area. For the past 8 years, the computer shop has been catering for the needs of the people in their community especially in having a viable and effective source of communication with their loved ones who work abroad or out of town. The students now have the opportunity to access the rapidly changing trends in society at a small cost of 10 to 15 Philippine pesos per hour rental fee. She started by managing a few units of desktop computers, but because of her good management skills she was able to add more units to help her increase the number of her daily customers. She was also able to acquire a single air-conditioner in order to prevent over-heating problems with the computers. She preferred to detach the cover of the computer CPUs because it will help release the heat from the equipment more effectively. Gene has been a member of the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for 2 years and has successfully repaid 4 previous loans. She then decided to seek a larger loan in order to purchase additional desktop computers to cater for the additional visitors in her cafe, most especially students who come to do their homework and research. She also plans to acquire one more air-conditioning unit to improve the ventilation of the business. She is doing her best to provide for a better education for her young children in the future. Gene will repay the loan over a period of twelve months.
