Pakistan
Loan description:
Fozia Saqib works from home making artificial jewelry. She is a resident of Kot Khawaja Saeed, an area of the city of Lahore. She is married, 36 years old and has one son and three daughters. All of them are enrolled for their studies. Her husband runs a juice corner and he earns around 12,000 rupees (about $114) per month. About five years ago Fozia decided to establish her own business making and selling cheap jewelry from home. Women in Pakistan mostly wear jewelry at parties, festivals and wedding ceremonies. She buys her materials (stones, gum, fancy yarn and jewelry shapes) from the market and then returns to sell to shopkeepers. She manages to earn 9,000 rupees profit per month. This way, she is able to support her husband in managing household expenses. She wants to expand her business so she can earn more. She requested a loan to visit the market and buy more of the raw materials she uses in bulk at lower costs.
