Loan description:

Saroeurn Vat is 37 years old and married to Chhoeurn Voeurn who is 41 years old. Presently they have two children, aged 14 and 16; the youngest attends the local school. They live in Changhosvay village, Cheng Meanchey commune in Banon district, Battambang province. They have been farmers for 15 years and currently farm six hectares of farming land to plant maize. The yield also gives them around three tons per hectare; they don’t need to sell this by themselves as traders visit their farm to negotiate the price with them. Aside from farming maize, they also own another two hectares of rice paddy upon which they grow rice every year. After cultivation, the yield gives them around two tons per hectare - they stock this rice for their own consumption. To further expand their farming land for maize, they have applied for a loan.They will use this to purchase one more hectare of farming land upon which to plant maize. They will pay the loan back over ten months. In the future they also want to purchase a tractor with which to farm their maize.
