Loan description:

Majury Matsika is 46 years old and happily married to a man who has been her pillar throughout her illnesses and helped her rise despite adversities. She becomes melancholic, however, as she chronicles her journeys across Africa in search of the elusive dollars in a bid to earn a decent living. She remembers a time when physically she was capable of enduring the long hours in public transport and the long hours queuing in the different borders. This was a time before Majury suffered from spinal problems which resulted in reduced physical strength. This put an end to the cross border business activities she was engaged in. The melancholy is short lived as her mood lifts and a determined spark shines in her eyes. She refused to let the spinal illness stop her from being an astute business woman. She is a mother to two school going children who are working hard and producing good results academically. Marjury is in her fifth loan cycle with Thrive Microfinance. She was a member of Rutendo group and has applied for her last loan and current loan as an individual as her other group members opted out of the Thrive program. She benefitted immensely from the trainings as they strengthened her business acumen and helped her in growing and diversifying her business so as to increase her income levels. Her previous loans have helped to grow her cross border business and also to diversify and start a groceries business. She has now erected a wooden cabin structure which she operates from. She also purchased a peanut butter processing machine. She credits Thrive loans for helping her keep her shop fully stocked with different provisions so that she maintains the goodwill of her clients. The income she has earned from her business and that from her spouse has helped her pay for expensive spinal operations she had to undertake. Majury has applied for a fifth loan and she is planning to further grow her tuckshop and to also buy bulk peanuts to process peanut butter for wholesaling and retailing. In future she is planning to sink a borehole at their farm and as a family add agriculture to their businesses specialising in market gardening.
