Walking into Budiriro is like walking into a local farm. There is lots of maize being sold at a local shopping center. Loice Chivengwa buys dried maize from rural areas and sells them in urban areas. Maize in Zimbabwe is always on demand since it produces mealie meal used to cook sadza the staple food for the country. It is also used as feeds for poultry and it increases the demand.
Loice travel twice a month to restock tons of maize from farmers to resale. It has become a routine since the demand is increasing ever since she started the business. There is need for a larger capital base for her business and she decided to join Thrive Microfinance with her friends.
She in 39 years old and is married with seven dependents. She has been able to sustain her family with the profits of her business and also with the help of her husband. Loice is planning to buy and own a grinding mill to enhance her profit margins at a cheaper cost. She is getting her fifth loan from Thrive and her business is growing. Currently they have received a total group loan of $2100 (Two thousand One hundred United States dollars). They have been utilizing what they were trained at Thrive in terms of book-keeping, saving and marketing their products.
