Togo
Loan description:
Afatsawo lives in a region where a widespread medical infliction has lead to an iodine deficiency in the diet of the population. He has thus chosen to participate in the eradication of this disease through a very particular method: he has launched a business in the sale of salt – both common salt and iodised salt. This is helping the local population to ensure they maintain the necessary amount of iodine in their daily diet. Afatsawo sources his stocks of iodised salt from neighbouring Ghana and resells it from his warehouse in Glei, close to the large market. He has been able to grow his business successfully because before launching it on his own in 2009, he worked for a long time as a salt retailer in another town in Togo. Today he is requesting financial support from lenders at lendwithcare in the form of a loan for 500,000 West African francs to enable him to expand his stock through the purchase of 150 sacks of salt. This loan would be repaid in twelve instalments. Afatsawo is a married father with one young child who is 1 year old. His wife is a housewife. They live together in the neighbourhood of Kwayakouba in Atakpamé. Afatsawo ambitions for his business is to improve his profits until he is able to build a new house for his small family.
