Mrs. Bui Thi Nham is 49 years old. She lives in Vo lane, Phu Cuong commune, Hoa Binh province with her husband and their two sons. The family earns a living by agricultural works like planting maize and raising cows. They currently have only 3 cows and 3000 square meters of land for maize planting. The home-made products are sold at a local market to surrounding traders. Their income often fluctuates and remains lower than 200 USD per month. This limited income makes it hard for them to maintain a sustainable life. Having raised livestock for a long time, but Mrs. Nham and the rest of her family have never known how to take advantage of their livestock’s waste. They still cook in traditional ways using firewood and coal, which bring very negative effects to the environment and people’s health as well. After being consulted about bio-gas's benefits, she decided to apply for a loan to buy a bio-gas tank, which will supply her family with enough amount of gas for cooking, and helps reduce environmental pollution. She committed to pay back in 24 installments.
