Bosnia-Herzegovina
Loan description:
Mirnesa Tahirovic is 30 years old and married. She lives with her husband and children in Turalici, which is near the city of Novi Travnik in central Bosnia. They have two sons and one daughter: Hasan is 13, Admel is 9 years old and their daughter Indira is 11 years old. They all go to primary school. Mirnesa's husband works as a shoemaker, but his income isn't enough to meet all of the expenses of their household and schooling their children. Thus Mirnesa started a business raising livestock several years ago. Today she has two cows, a heifer and a calf. She produces milk, cheese, cream and meat. She sells all of her products to a regular client in Travnik. Besides that she rents a smallholding from her neighbour where she grows vegetables such as onions, beans, potatoes, which she sells to her husband’s colleagues. Over time she has been able to significantly expand her business and is very proud of herself because it enables her to make a big contribution to her family's income; now she can cover the expenses of the household and schooling her children. She has been a very good client of the microcredit foundation Women for Women International for the last three years. She applied for another loan because she wants to buy a smallholding. She is a hardworking, modest and honest person, who believes that you can achieve anything if you have good will.
