Mrs Fatuma Phiri is an ambitious woman. She is 36 years old. She is a widow with six children who are in school. She and her family live in Petauke, Eastern part of Zambia. Fatuma runs a market stall selling vitenge (waist wrappers), plastic dishes and cups. She goes to Malawi a neighboring country for orders. She is requesting for this loan to finance another trip to Malawi to order more stocks of vitenge and plastic buckets as they are on demand and profitable. She has been in this business for three years now. Before she started this business, Fatuma was farming and looking after her family. She started her businesses in order to provide quality education and good health to her children through paying school fees, buying clothes, paying hospital bills as well as buying farming inputs. She hopes to start a grocery business when she has enough capital generated through her business. She also hopes to build a house for her children.
Before she started her business she did not have financial access especially after the death of her husband but now she has and is able to support her family financially.
