Loan description:

Analiza Uddin is 35 years old and married. She lives in Purok Masanagon I in the town of Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur province. She has 2 children – a 12 year old son who is studying in the local school and a 2 year old daughter. Both Analiza and her husband, Ben, run a vegetable stall which Analiza inherited from her parents 20 years ago. They sell various kinds of vegetables, the most common of which is a vegetable known as “upo” or bottle gourds (long melon). Bottle gourds are popular with the people because it is believed they keep children polite and respectful to the elderly. This belief, along with the upo's many health benefits, has made this vegetable very popular. Aside from bottle gourds, Analiza also sells ginger, onions and garlic. She also employs two regular helpers. Analiza sought a small loan from the microfinance organisation, Maranding Women’s Investors Multi-Purpose Cooperative in order to purchase more stocks of vegetables as well as diversify her stock. Analiza thinks customer satisfaction is very important and works hard to keep her customers happy, especially those who have patronized her stall for a long time. Her dream is to help her children finish their schooling. Analiza intends to repay the loan over 6 months.
