Loan description:

Abla is a woman who is 33 years old. Her husband, as the head of the household, is a welder by profession. Together they have two children who four and two years old. The family lives in the neighbourhood of Djama Kpota. Abla runs a hair salon called ‘Marvel’ located in the neighbourhood of Gnagna. Since starting this business in 1999, she has mastered all of the most contemporary and fashionable hair cuts and can bring out the African beauty of her clients. To create more profit from her business, she also sells hair pieces, wigs and weavings that she buys from Lomé. This trade complements her main business and is also an asset that helps her retain the loyalty of her clients. Abla is a long-standing customer of the microfinance organisation WAGES and has already benefitted for two loans of 150,000 and 200,000 West African francs respectively. She paid them both back paying heed in the best possible way to their conditions. Abla’s ambition is to increase her revenue and so she did not hesitate to approach WAGES for a third loan for 300,000 West African francs, repayable in twelve instalments. This sum would serve to expand her stock of hair pieces, wigs and weavings. Abla will purchase her stock in bulk to benefit from reductions in price. With the future growth of her salon, Abla envisages taking on young apprentices. She will invest her profits in the education of her children.
