Sokhoeurn Phon is 47 years old and married with two sons aged 18 and 21 respectively. They live in Krous village which is in Thmor Korl district in Battambang province. Sokhoeurn has been a member of Chrey Credit Union for over three years. Sokhoeurn and her husband, Chob Chhin, 62, are farmers with over 25 years of experience. They farm nine hectares of rice paddy located just 200 metres from their home. The yield is on average about three tonnes per hectare. They keep one tonne of rice for the household's own consumption while the remainder is sold to merchants. Sokhoeurn has sought a loan in order to buy fertiliser, insecticide and diesel for their water pump and hand tractor. Sokhoeurn intends to repay the loan over eight months. She aims to start another additional business raising chickens and pigs from home (the photographs show Sokhoeurn’s husband Chob).
