Ros Chhoum recently completed repaying a loan that he received in 2013. Although he did harvest and sell some of his rice crop last year, he lost part of his crop to flooding in October 2013. He sold his rice for $150 a tonne. To try and make up for less than expected income, at the beginning of 2014 he planted green beans on the same land. He sold the green beans for $1 per kilogram which was a higher price than in previous years. His current crop of rice looks is growing well and he expects a good harvest (as can be seen from the photograph) and make a good profit. He spends almost all day at his farm from early morning till evening to weed and check for pests. During his free time he works as a fisherman and sells the fish he catches at the market for additional income.
