María Florencia Ruilova Ochoa is about half way through repaying her loan. She has not had any difficulties so far in making any of the monthly repayments. She has been making pies and pastries for about 12 years, initially she sold the food as a street vendor until she established her cafe with the loan she received. With the loan she bought two refrigerators, furniture, gas canisters for the cafe as well as deposit for the first rent. Most of her pies are priced at 50 cents apart from the beef stew which is priced at $1 and ice cream which is 75 cents. Maria sells the soft drinks for 50 cents also. On average her daily takings are $50, but this is not her profit which is much lower at around $15. Maria works each day from 8 am to 7 pm. Update submitted by Fernando Rodriguez.
