Julio Cesar Ojeda is a mechanic who received a loan worth just over £2000 about eight months ago. He is almost half way through repaying the loan and all his repayments have been on-time so far. Don Julio used the money to buy spare parts for vehicles. He has actually expanded his business - he used to just work as a car mechanic running a 'taller electrico' or 'electrical workshop' but now also sells basic spare parts for cars and trucks. This works out well because when customers come for repairs he is also able to offer them new spare parts if necessary and also install them. Specifically with the loan he bought in bulk various items including engine oil, brake fluid, spark plugs, bulbs for indicators and headlamps, steering column switches, car mats and starter switches. His business is going well because in the part of town where he is situated there is little competition and he also installs most of the equipment directly for customers as well as selling it. He reckons that in a good week he can make around $200 profit, while in poor weeks he might only earn $70.
