To live a better life as farmers, Pov and his wife, needed to grow and sell more rice. Pov asked for a loan in order to buy another plot of farming land. As this is the time to grow rainy season rice, Pov has completed his ploughing and already finished planting the wet season rice on his bigger piece of land. Having his own hand tractor has been really helpful for him and with the assistance of his son they have been able to plough their land fairly quickly. Since a part of his land can be grown on twice a year, it is a good source of income for his family. He can harvest the crops during October and November as long as they are not struck by any natural disaster. At home he also has another business growing vegetables such as yard long bean, spring onions and cucumbers, which also provide some additional income for their family (the photograph shows Pov with his spring onions at his home).
