They bought land to build a house near the Sangke river. Nobody has run a general store in their area before so they chose a business selling as wide a variety of household goods such as food ingredients, pork, vegetables, cooking oil, mineral water, and even gasoline and diesel. They general buy new stock three days a week from Battambang town which is around nine kilometers away from their home and they use their own motorbike to deliver their goods. As their house is nearby the river they are are able to sell their goods to travelers who come to Tonlesap Lake by boat and stop to buy diesel or fishing nets. Most food ingredients are sold everyday to villagers as they have means to buy from outside their area as there is no path for travelling. During September to May their business is busy as it is the time most villagers can spend a lot while they can get more income from their farming and fishing. As this point they notice that since they have chosen this business their family economy is better than when they were farming. They also can use this income to cover their children’s education.
