Saroun is making gains from her watermelon sales

After Saroun received the loan for 773 USD from Ek Phnom credit union, over three months her watermelon was picked to sell in bulk to the local buyer who visits her farm. She negotiated the price and then agreed to sell for the better price of approximately $1500 for all her watermelons. With this better price, Saroun can make around $500 from her watermelons, which means that at the moment she can use this income to cover the cost for farming rice during the dry season and to purchase diesel for her hand tractor to plough and pay labour costs. The rice that she looks after for three months over the dry season can be cultivated to sell for local merchandise. Presently she farms dry season rice on around three hectares and she expects to get a very good yield from this rice as she purchases good quality seeds and has enough water for her rice.
