Update on Kokou's photography business

Pierre took a loan to buy a digital camera, a computer, printer and a laminator for his photography business (cameras seem to be much more expensive here than they are in the UK). Pierre does all kinds of photography, portraits in his studio including wedding photography. However, the most profitable is producing the identity cards that all students have to have. He is able to make these cards due to the printer and laminator, when a new school year starts he can make around £1,500 by producing 5,000 cards. For the portrait side of the business Pierre has to travel three hours to Lomé to get his photographs printed as the quality he can achieve in the local developers in Atakpamé is not good enough. Pierre is doing very well, he has now taken a much bigger loan from another MFI to build his own house (our partner, WAGES do not give this kind of loan). Tracey Horner, March 2012.
