Mariam is 48 years old. After repeatedly failing her professional certification in accountancy, Mariam left college in order to pursue a career as a beautician, specialising in manicures and pedicures. For around 15 years, she has been working as a self-employed beautician. She stocks up on nail varnish, nail files, cotton wool and other treatment products at the Dantokpa market and her customers include students and ladies from her neighbourhood and the surrounding area. Mariam is a reliable client of the microfinance institution ACFB and she is currently requesting a loan of 300,000 West African francs, which will allow her to build up her stocks in order to better meet the needs of her clientele. The profit she makes will help her to extend her shop and increase her capital.

Après ses échecs répétées au Certificat d’Aptitude Professionnelle de la comptabilité, elle a du abandonné le lycée au profit d’une formation en esthétique particulièrement en manucure et pédicure. Depuis environ une quinzaine d’année, elle exerce la manucure et pédicure à son propre compte. Elle s’approvisionne en vernis, lime ongle, coton et autre produits de traitement sur le marché dantokpa et ses clients potentiels sont les élèves et les dames du quartier et environ. Fidèle à ses engagements au niveau de l’ACFB, elle sollicite un prêt de 300.000FCFA, qui lui permettra de renouveler son stock de produits afin de mieux satisfaire sa clientèle. Le profit dégagé l’aiderait à agrandir sa boutique et son capital.
