Loan description:
Marie-Josée Kpohouede is 39 years old and married with three children who all attend a local school. For the last 15 years or so she has had a small business selling shoes. She buys her stock from the large international market called Dantokpa and occasionally even travels across the border to neighbouring Togo and its capital Lome. She also assists her mother who sells akassa or porridge, roasted peanuts and smoked fish. She has been a borrower of the microfinance institution ACFB for a number of years and has received and repaid a number of loans already. She has now sought a much larger loan of 500,000 West African francs to re-stock her store. She wants to use profit from her business to install a small corn milling machine at her home this will mean she can diversify her income sources. She intends to repay this loan over 12 months.
