Akouvi is 47 years old. She is married and the mother of three children. The oldest is twenty three and the youngest thirteen. Two of her children are still going to school. She lives with her family near the big market Assigamé at Atakpamé. Her husband is a bricklayer. Akouvi is fishmonger. She sells fried and smoked fish. She buys frozen fish in the town before frying and smoking it for selling. Akouvi is taking a loan in order to boost her activity by buying a larger stock of fish to fry. In the future she plans to have her own icebox and open a shop where she will sell frozen fish and stop frying fish, a job which is very hard work dealing with boiling oil and a smoke all day long.
