Loan description:

Ma. Donette Tango-an is a 41 year old wife and mother. She has two children who are 18 and 13 and both still studying. Her 40 year old husband, Adrian, works as a private driver for a local politician. In their village, which is in the town of Toledo in Cebu province, Ma. Donette is engaged in raising pigs that serves as an additional source of income for her family. She currently raises 2 adult pigs and 2 piglets. Once the animals are fully-grown, she then sells them to local dealers who sell the pig meat to various market vendors in the town. The size of her pen is ideally suitable for four pigs where they can stay and move around with ease. Ma. Donette has her own water supply inside the area and she never forgets to provide regular food and vitamins to her pigs. She has been an experienced pig raiser for the past 17 years. She has also been a member of the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, for seven years and has availed and successfully repaid several loan cycles. She is asking for an additional loan of $525 (20,000 Philippine pesos) to purchase stocks of food and vitamins for her pigs and piglets. By buying these necessities in bulk she will be able to lessen her costs and avail a discount. She will repay this loan over a period of eighteen months. She also hopes to establish another pen in a nearby vacant lot that she also owns in order to add more pigs to raise. Without this loan, she will not have the opportunity to take care of more pigs which can contribute to the progress of her business.
