Loan description:
Porfirio Torres is a mechanic. He is 37 and married with four daughters all of whom are at school. He has a workshop where he repairs cars, buses and trucks. Commonly he changes and repairs tyres, changes oil and services vehicles. He has had his own business for the last 15 years. He learned the trade by working initially with an uncle who had his own garage. His parents could not afford to send him to school and Don Porfirio did not complete primary education. Instead he started working at a young age. His own business is quite successful and he employs two apprentices to assist him in the workshop. Don Porfirio has also bought his own home but he rents the premises where his workshop is located. He requested a loan in order to buy common supplies, such as motor oil, spark plugs, and screen wash in bulk - it works out much cheaper this way and he does not have to send customers to larger garages to buy and return. In the long-run Don Porfirio would like to buy a plot of land where he can move his business, rather than continually having to pay rent. He intends to repay the loan over 15 months.
