Nyonkon is 35 years old and married with three children. Nyonkon and her family live in the neighborhood of Assivime, which is in Atakpame. Her children are aged between 10 and 20 and only her 2 younger children are still at school. For nearly 12 years Nyonkon has sold grocery items such as soap, milk, detergents, canned tomatoes, spaghetti, sugar and cosmetics to predominantly women in the local area. She buys all her products from the capital, Lome. She employs one person to help her. In order to sustain her business she needs to replenish her stock. She is requesting her first loan from the microfinance organisation, WAGES, to buy bags of rice, pasta and cans of tomatoes in bulk. Nyonkon hopes that with this funding, she will be able to increase her profits and provide for her family more adequately. She will repay this loan over 12 months.
