Thoeurm Houn is 55 years old. She is married to Mr. Sok, who is in the photographs in their green bean field. They live in Battambang province. They farm rice on around three hectares, which produces only two tonnes per hectare. They also grow green beans and watermelons on a plot of land, which is 11,200 square metres. They planted these in January and they will be ready for sale during March. To continue with this activity, they have applied for a ten month loan in order to purchase some good quality seeds, insecticide, weed killer, diesel for their water pump and to help pay for additional labour to harvest their green beans. Most of the income they will earn from this activity will be used to farm again next year as well as to cover their household expenses.
