Loan description:
Hor Bak is 40 years old and a mother with three children, who are aged between 16 and 6 years old. Only her two younger children are still at school. Hor and her family live in Ek Phnom district, which is in Battambang province. She produces rice on around two hectares of land, which yields around two tonnes or rice per hectare. On a part of her farming land she is able to produce both dry and wet season rice. Once she has harvested her crops she then goes to work along Cambodian-Thai border to cut the grass and chop the cassava. She can earn around $4 a day doing this. As her working capital is currently limited she has applied for a ten month loan in order to buy fertiliser, insecticide, weed killer and to pay for ploughing and harvesting costs.
