Loan description:
Bunthon Hieng is 26 years old and married to Chanly Kheng (who is shown in the photograph). They have one daughter who is seven years old and goes to the local government school. Bunthon and Chanly live in a village in Sangke district, which is in Battambang province. They farm five hectares of rice paddy and the yield from this rice provides them with around three tonnes per hectare. On a part of their land they have the chance to farm twice a year since they can grow dry season rice which only takes three months to cultivate. As their working capital is limited, they have taken out a loan in order to purchase fertiliser, insecticide, weed killer, diesel and to pay for ploughing costs. They expect to repay this loan over ten months.
Loan added: 19 December 2012
