Ecuador
Loan description:
Jenny Maribel Espinosa Rueda is 29 and single. She lives with her mother, three uncles and aunts and a cousin in the rural community of Zurunuma near the town of Cariamanga in southern Ecuador. Two of the people in her household have physical disabilities. They are farmers. As well as growing various crops, principally maize, they also raise animals including cattle, pigs, chickens and guinea pigs (these are a popular meat in the Andean region of South America, particularly in Ecuador and Peru). Jenny requested a loan in order to buy piglets and animal feed. The piglets usually cost around $70 each and are sold after 4-5 months for their meat.
