Loan description:
Manuel Benitez is 40 and is married with two children. He works in agriculture, the activity of his family. He went to primary school but when he was 14 his father died. Being the eldest son he had to stop going to school to work all day in the fields to provide for his younger siblings. There was a period in Manuel’s life when he became an alcoholic. With the support of his mother and other family members he went to a clinic, received treatment and stopped drinking. He now has a partner, children and works very hard. His dream is to be able to support them until further education. Manuel is requesting the loan to plant cucumbers and beans. He has got the grounds, but needs money to buy the seeds, fertlisers and equipment. He tells us that there is demand for these products and he will be able to sell his produce in a number of markets in the area.
