Augustine Kougbakin is 31 and married with three children. She left school herself very young although she is keen for her children to receive a full education. For the last three years Augustine has earned a living from selling plastic kitchen and bathroom products and some fabrics at the market. She sells at the large international market in Cotonou as well as in Pobè, not far from her home. Her clients include local residents and tourists who are interested in the fabrics. She requested a loan of 450,000 West African francs from the microfinance institution ACFB in order to buy more fabric and cool boxes. She intends to repay the loan over 12 months.
