Bosnia-Herzegovina
Loan description:
Lejla Mahmic lives with her husband and their three year old daughter near Zenica in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her husband recently started working as a carpenter for a local company - he was previously unemployed. Previously, Lejla and her husband devoted themselves to agricultural activities, now Lejla continues largely alone. In fact, she completed a training course in growing vegetables in greenhouses run by the microfinance foundation 'Women for Women International', following which she received a loan to purchase and install a greenhouse. She grows tomatoes and peppers in the greenhouse which she then sells. She also sells eggs from around 100 hens which she keeps. This is profitable and she requested a loan in order to buy more hens and expand her poultry business. Part of the loan is also to improve the area where the hens are kept.
Loan added: 28 July 2012
